How to Add a Domain in cPanel
Quick Summary
You can add another domain to your cPanel hosting account if your hosting plan supports multiple domains.
Before You Start
Make sure:
- Your hosting plan allows additional domains.
- You own the domain.
- The domain is pointed to CybroHost nameservers or will be pointed after adding it.
- You know where you want the website files to be stored.
CybroHost Nameservers
Use these nameservers:
- dns1.cybrohost.com
- dns2.cybrohost.com
Steps to Add a Domain
- Log in to cPanel.
- Find the Domains section.
- Click Domains.
- Click Create A New Domain.
- Enter the domain name.
Example:
example.com
- Choose the document root.
The document root is the folder where the website files for this domain will be stored.
Example:
public_html/example.com
- Review the option for sharing the document root.
If you want the new domain to show the same website as your main domain, you may share the document root.
If you want a separate website, use a separate folder.
- Click Submit.
After Adding the Domain
After the domain is added:
- Upload website files to the domain folder.
- Create a database if the website requires one.
- Install WordPress or another application if needed.
- Point the domain DNS to CybroHost.
- Install SSL after DNS propagation is complete.
How to Upload Website Files
- Open cPanel.
- Go to File Manager.
- Open the domain document root folder.
- Upload your website files.
- Make sure the homepage file is named correctly.
Common homepage file names:
- index.php
- index.html
DNS Setup
Use these nameservers:
- dns1.cybrohost.com
- dns2.cybrohost.com
DNS propagation can take from a few minutes to 24 hours. In some cases, it can take up to 48 hours.
Common Issues
Issue: Website shows another site.
Solution: The document root may be wrong.
Issue: Website shows a blank page.
Solution: Files may be missing or uploaded to the wrong folder.
Issue: Website shows DNS error.
Solution: Domain DNS may not be pointed correctly.
Issue: SSL does not install.
Solution: DNS propagation may not be complete.
